Such a strange thing is ones connection to an animal. It can appear laughable at times to feel like one has such affection towards a pet. But the truth is often that connection goes far deeper than one shared with a human. For me  personally I have had the pleasure of knowing a Cat who went by the name of Rupert. I quickly renamed him Gish (after the debut Smashing Pumpkins album) however over time that amalgamated into Pish (Not sure why).

Pish has been my companion most of my adult life and when ever times got tough or stressful he was there to share warmth and affection with me. Some said he just saw us as a portable hot water bottle; and though I`m sure there is some truth in that. It was a setup that worked perfectly for both of us during those lazy days and cold nights. He was a wonderful companion to return to from a long tour and he reminded me that it`s the simple things in life that can bring happiness.

A true character with a very unique meow. (As can be heard during the intro to my song `Pish`) He lived on till the rip old age of 19 (93 in Cat years apparently). A good innings I reckon.

Thanks for all the happy vibes and joyous times Pish.

You made this muso into a soppy git.

Happy New Year Everybody!!!!!

It gives me great pleasure to share a link with you for a new documentary being put together by film maker Tim Pierce. Tim caught one of my shows and took a shine to the instrumental track `Ask All` from my second album `The Distance From Here`.   Watching the video for the teaser has to me been a great reminder of the sheer beauty of the New Zealand landscape and some of the wonderful people that inhabit these areas. It is also gives me great pleasure to announce that I will be returning to play in Wanaka (the area focussed on the documentary) on Tuesday 15th Feb 2011.
